Exhibition Venues Japan: Where Major Trade Shows Are Held (2027)
Exhibition venues Japan uses for major trade shows cluster in a few large centres: Tokyo Big Sight and Makuhari Messe near Tokyo, INTEX Osaka in Kansai, Port Messe Nagoya and Aichi Sky Expo in Chubu, and Marine Messe Fukuoka in Kyushu. Eastern venues run on 50 Hz power and western venues on 60 Hz. Choose the show for its audience, then plan around the venue’s access, halls and addresses. For 2027, confirm each edition’s venue before you book.

How Japan’s exhibition venues are spread

Major Japanese trade shows are held in a handful of large exhibition centres, grouped by region. Tokyo Big Sight in Koto-ku is the one most overseas exhibitors meet first. This exhibition venues Japan guide shows where major Japanese trade shows are held, region by region, with access times, halls and power frequency for each: the Tokyo region, Kansai, Chubu and Kyushu.
Exhibition venues in Japan do not belong to one show. A single show can move between Japanese exhibition centres within a year. Exhibition venues Japan 2027 calendars list the same halls under different shows, so the hall matters as much as the date. Manufacturing World ran its Fukuoka edition at Marine Messe Fukuoka in December 2026, then planned Nagoya at Port Messe Nagoya, Tokyo at Tokyo Big Sight and Osaka at INTEX Osaka for 2027. Read the venue for your edition, not the show’s brand. manufacturing-world
For dates, use the Japanese trade show calendar, then confirm the venue with the organiser. Japan’s mains voltage is the same everywhere, but its frequency is not. The Fujigawa River and the southern border of Niigata Prefecture form the boundary between 50 Hz and 60 Hz. Tokyo and Yokohama sit in the 50 Hz east, while Nagoya, Osaka and Kyushu sit in the 60 Hz west. That line shapes your equipment choices at every venue below. electricaltechnologyjapan-guide
Tokyo region: Tokyo Big Sight, Makuhari Messe, Pacifico Yokohama
Exhibition venues Tokyo shows use fall into three exhibition centres: Tokyo Big Sight in Koto-ku, Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and Pacifico Yokohama. All three sit in eastern Japan, on 50 Hz power. Each has its own rail links and hall rules, so treat them as three separate venues.
Tokyo Big Sight
Tokyo Big Sight has 16 exhibition halls in three buildings, with 115,420 m² of exhibition area in total. The East halls (six) cover 51,380 m², the new East halls (two) 14,760 m², the West halls (four) 29,280 m² and the South halls (four) 20,000 m². These Tokyo Big Sight halls differ in size, so check which building holds your stand. The venue hosts about 300 events a year. It is the exhibition centre Tokyo organisers use most often for large shows. company guide +2
Addresses differ by building. The main address is 3-11-1 Ariake, Koto-ku. One organiser’s venue page gives the East Hall as 3-10-1 Ariake. Give drivers and couriers the exact address for your hall. tokyonikkan
Getting to Tokyo Big Sight is simple. The Rinkai Line’s Kokusai-Tenjijo Station is about seven minutes’ walk away, and the Yurikamome’s Tokyo Big Sight Station about three. Haneda Airport is about 25 minutes by limousine bus. Narita is about 80 minutes by limousine bus to the Ariake Park Building, which holds the Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel, then three minutes on foot. From Osaki Station, the Rinkai Line takes about 14 minutes. bigsight.jp +2
Look for hotels near exhibition venue Tokyo teams already use. The venue’s own access map shows the Daiwa Roynet Hotel Tokyo Ariake and the Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel beside the halls. Its walking map also shows Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba, Hilton Tokyo Odaiba and Hotel Trusty Tokyo Bayside nearby. Read the Tokyo Big Sight exhibitor guide for move-in and show-day detail. bigsightbigsight
Makuhari Messe
Makuhari Messe is the second big exhibition centre for Tokyo shows, across the border in Chiba. Its total exhibition area is 75,000 m², with Halls 1–8 at 54,000 m² and Halls 9–11 at 18,000 m². m-messe
Makuhari Messe access is by rail or bus. The venue is about a five-minute walk from JR Keiyo Line Kaihimmakuhari Station, which is about 30 minutes from Tokyo by the Rapid service. Highway buses take about 40 minutes from Haneda and 30 to 40 minutes from Narita. The address is 2-1 Nakase, Mihama-ku, Chiba. Our Makuhari Messe exhibitor guide covers the venue in more depth. Chiba sits in the 50 Hz zone. m-messe.co.jp +3
Pacifico Yokohama
Pacifico Yokohama is smaller, in the Minato Mirai district. It is another exhibition centre Tokyo-region shows use, but it lies in Yokohama, still in the 50 Hz zone. Its exhibition space is 20,000 m², dividable into four, and it is a five-minute walk from Minatomirai Station. Sakuragicho Station is about 12 minutes’ walk away, and the address is 1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku. japanmeetingsjcd-expo
Kansai: INTEX Osaka and Kobe
Among the exhibition venues Japan offers in Kansai, the main centre is INTEX Osaka, and Kobe has a smaller hall on Port Island. Both run on 60 Hz power. Osaka and Kobe sit in the Kansai zone, at 60 Hz. shulman-advisory
INTEX Osaka
INTEX Osaka ranks third in Japan by total floor area, after Tokyo Big Sight and Makuhari Messe. It is the main trade show venue Osaka organisers use. Nakafuto Station is a five-minute walk away, Trade Center-mae eight and Cosmo Square nine. Umeda is about 40 minutes by train and Shin-Osaka about 45. From Kansai International Airport, a limousine bus takes about 50 minutes and stops at the Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay, one minute from the venue. osaka-info.jp +3
Kobe International Exhibition Hall
Kobe International Exhibition Hall has 13,600 m² of exhibition area across its halls. From Sannomiya Station, the Port Liner reaches Shimin-Hiroba Station in 10 minutes, and from Kobe Airport it takes 8 minutes. kobe-cccct
Chubu: Port Messe Nagoya and Aichi Sky Expo
Chubu has two of the exhibition venues Japan teams use most outside Tokyo: Port Messe Nagoya, in the port, and Aichi Sky Expo, on the Centrair airport island. Both are in the 60 Hz zone. Nagoya sits in the Chubu zone, at 60 Hz. shulman-advisory
Port Messe Nagoya
The Nagoya exhibition hall most shows use is Port Messe Nagoya. Exhibition Hall 1 covers 20,000 m², has a 20 m ceiling and divides into four sections. It is connected to Kinjo-futo Station by a covered deck, 24 minutes from Nagoya Station on the Aonami Line. By car, it is two minutes from Meiko-chuo IC. The address is 2-2 Kinjyo-futo, Minato-ku, Nagoya. www.nagoya-info.jp +3
Aichi Sky Expo
Aichi Sky Expo has 60,000 m² of exhibition area and is a five-minute walk from Chubu Centrair International Airport. It has six halls, and its address is 5-10-1 Centrair, Tokoname. The Meitetsu airport train from Nagoya Station takes about 28 minutes. It suits teams flying in from overseas, because the airport is next door. Plan Nagoya exhibition hall transfers separately for the two venues, since one is a train ride from the city and the other is at the airport. Aichi International Exhibition Center “Aichi Sky Expo” +2
Kyushu: Marine Messe Fukuoka
Of the exhibition venues Japan has in Kyushu, the main one is Marine Messe Fukuoka, on the Fukuoka waterfront, which runs on 60 Hz power. Fukuoka sits in the Kyushu zone, at 60 Hz. The complex has two halls, Hall A and Hall B, which a large roof can link for joint use. shulman-advisoryaplarcongress
Fukuoka also hosts touring shows. Manufacturing World’s Kyushu edition took place there on 2–4 December 2026. Check the edition’s own page before you book flights. manufacturing-world
Hall A and Hall B have different addresses. Hall A is at 7-1 Okihamacho, and Hall B is at 2-1 Okihamacho, both in Hakata-ku. The venue is about 10 minutes by taxi from Hakata Station and 15 minutes from Fukuoka Airport. The nearest subway station, Gofukumachi, is a 15-minute walk. iprosmanufacturing-world
Comparison table: city, power frequency, halls

Use this table of exhibition venues Japan teams visit to compare the venues side by side. Exhibition venue power 50Hz 60Hz is the first column to check. Eastern Japan including Tokyo uses 50 Hz, and western Japan including Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka uses 60 Hz. emb-japan
By area, the venues rank clearly. Tokyo Big Sight’s 115,420 m² exceeds Makuhari Messe’s 75,000 m², which in turn exceeds Aichi Sky Expo’s 60,000 m². Pacifico Yokohama, at 20,000 m², is far smaller than all three. company guide +3

Choosing by audience, not by venue
Choose the show for its audience, then work out which of the exhibition venues Japan offers it uses. The venue decides your travel, power and delivery address, but not who walks the aisles. Exhibition venues Japan wide look alike on a map, yet each sets its own transfer times and hall rules. Treat travel time as a cost: the airport transfers above range from five minutes at Aichi Sky Expo to about 80 minutes between Narita and Tokyo Big Sight. Book hotels for the move-in days as well as the show days. Exhibition venues Japan rules sit on three levels: national law, the venue, and the organiser’s manual.
Venue move-in Japan teams plan for starts with the right address and the right window. The venue gives you the address. The organiser’s manual gives you the vehicle and hand-carry hours. Check both before you fix a freight date. If your show runs at more than one venue, as Manufacturing World does, each edition has its own address, power frequency and access times. Do not copy a plan from one city to the next.
- Which building and hall holds your stand, and what is its address?
- Which power frequency applies, and does your equipment accept it?
- What are the vehicle and hand-carry hours for move-in and move-out?
- How far is the nearest hotel, and how do you get there at night?
- Which venue rules sit on top of the manual?
- Which official contractors work at this venue?
Common venue mistakes
- Sending freight to the wrong building. Tokyo Big Sight’s East and West areas have different addresses, and Marine Messe Fukuoka’s two halls do too.
- Ignoring the power frequency. An Osaka trade show runs on 60 Hz, and Tokyo Big Sight on 50 Hz.
- Booking a hotel far from the halls, then losing hours to transfers.
- Treating the show’s name as the venue. Check the edition’s own page.
- Assuming one transfer plan fits both Nagoya venues.
How to use this overview
- Find your show’s edition and its venue in the organiser’s manual.
- Note the power frequency for that city, and check your equipment.
- Copy the exact hall address for freight and couriers.
- Book a hotel and plan the airport transfer from the access times above.
- Read the venue’s move-in and move-out windows in the manual.
BoothJAPAN service tie-in: Tokyo Big Sight venue page
BoothJAPAN handles the Japan side of trade shows for companies based outside Japan, in English with you and in Japanese with organisers, venues and suppliers. It can coordinate the exhibitor manual and its deadlines, the booth build, power and internet orders, freight and returns, and show-day support. The Tokyo Big Sight venue page shows how that support works there, from the manual to move-out. Customs clearance stays with your customs broker; BoothJAPAN coordinates with them.
Frequently asked questions

Is there a bonded exhibition centre in Japan?
Possibly one. Aichi Prefecture’s travel guide calls Aichi Sky Expo the only permanent bonded exhibition centre in Japan, where overseas exhibits skip import duties and pass a simple process. Other venues do not carry that description. Confirm your own case with Japan Customs, your customs broker or the organiser. pref
Which of the exhibition venues Japan offers is nearest an airport?
Aichi Sky Expo is closest, at five minutes’ walk from Centrair. Tokyo Big Sight is about 25 minutes by limousine bus from Haneda. Makuhari Messe is 30 to 40 minutes from Narita by highway bus. INTEX Osaka is about 50 minutes by limousine bus from Kansai International Airport.
Do shuttle buses run to Marine Messe Fukuoka?
Only at some shows. One exhibitor notice described a free shuttle between Hakata Station and Marine Messe Fukuoka during that show’s three days. Ask your organiser if the show runs one. Otherwise plan on taxi, city bus or the walk from Gofukumachi. ipros
Which plug and voltage will I find?
Japan’s supply is 100 V everywhere. Sockets take two pins, as in North America, and only sensitive equipment is affected by the 50 Hz and 60 Hz split. Check each machine’s rated input, and confirm your stand’s power order with the organiser’s official contractor. kek
